Towards a regional portfolio approach to diversify development partnerships and financing instruments.

The report takes stock of regional development efforts by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in West and Central Africa (WACA).It does so by reviewing UNDP’s and selected partners’ ongoing investments and development interventions in WACA from 2017 to 2021 with the objective of understanding their current performance, informing efforts to future proof, making programmes fit for purpose, diversifying partnerships and financing instruments, and strengthen coherence across the UNDP Regional Hub, 24 UNDP Country Offices and partner initiatives. A special focus is given on neglected socio-economic opportunities such as intra-regional trade, migration and remittances, as well as exploring the role of UNDP in unlocking climate finance to help close the investment gap for the green transition in West and Central Africa.
