Children Affected by Armed Conflict (SRSG/CAAC)
From Accounting to Accountability: Analysis of the child reintegration financing and prevention landscape
Clients: Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Children Affected by Armed Conflict (SRSG/CAAC)
This research piece builds on previous research from the Global Coalition for the Reintegration of Child Soldiers (GCR) and explores innovative financing opportunities to help meet the needs of children associated with armed forces and armed groups (CAAFAG) and children affected by armed conflicts. The report makes a case for the urgent need for new thinking and innovation and will inform a radical reform in the child reintegration space to address two increasingly interrelated objectives that aim to make it fit-for-purpose and future proof: (a) to meet the immediate and growing financing needs of child reintegration in a sustainable and predictable way, (b) to support child reintegration stakeholders to engage with partners across the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus supporting the longer term needs of children across the child life-cycle stages. This support also aims to break the cycles of child recruitment by addressing its root causes.
