IGAD Climate Adaptation Strategy (CAS)

While humanitarian support will continue to be needed as a result of climate shocks in the region, a greater emphasis has now been placed on building resilience and supporting the adaptation of those communities most affected by the negative impacts of a rapidly warming region.

Clients: Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD); United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR)

We supported UNHCR and IGAD in developing the IGAD Climate Adaptation Strategy (CAS), which seeks to establish a framework for regional collaboration and coordinated action, informed by the latest data, evidence and scientific research to address climate change concerns that enhance climate-smart livelihoods and well-being, creates climate-resilient ecosystems, produces low-emission sustainable economic growth, and supports regional climate adaptation that enables the capacity of local communities and groups in particularly vulnerable situations, including women and people with disabilities, and displaced populations and their hosts.
